Design School Electives Week allows you to craft your own journey: either mix and match; sign up for all four days; or opt for one, only. Remember, a firm foundation in a handful of techniques can last a lifetime – and practice makes perfect (even though there’s no such thing).

MONDAY July 22
Bb.Cut Foundation (Long Hair: Razor)
We’ve created and perfected timeless techniques, all of which we refine to suit the individual. These razor skills form the basis for all cuts – plus, they’re essential for daily salon work. Learn how to conduct an effective consultation, improve your razor proficiency, and create signature long-hair cuts that turn heads.
TUESDAY July 23
Curling Iron Artistry (Natural Wave)
This styling class focuses on curling iron techniques using the Marcel iron (an essential part of backstage and editorial culture). In this class, you’ll learn the fundamentals of curling iron style techniques, learn how to create curl patterns, and incorporate current influences into your work.
WEDNESDAY July 24
Bb.Man (Razor/Scissors)
You’ll work with a razor and scissors to explore men’s cuts. By combining classic and current techniques, this class will revolutionize your approach to men’s cutting and grooming. Learn the basis of Bb.Razorcraft, how to create shape and texture, and practice a variety of techniques – including “scissor over comb.”
THURSDAY July 25
Bb.Braids (The Fundamentals)
You’ll learn the foundational techniques needed to execute a wide variety of braided styles – plus, you’ll incorporate various creative elements to take your work to the next level.

MONDAY September 23

Bb.Cut Aesthetic (Women’s Short Hair: Razor/Scissors)
This intensive cutting course is designed to build upon your existing knowledge and experience, leaving you with an enhanced technical education. You’ll learn how to tailor short cuts for every client, expand on product knowledge, and practice essential razor and scissor techniques.
TUESDAY September 24
*Pre-requisite – Styling I, Bb.Style: The Blowdry, Perfected and/or all NEs who attended Network Educator Program I after February 2004 and before July 2018.
Styling Series (Ponytails)
Whether it’s on-set or behind the chair, the perfect pony has power. From classic to current, you’ll customize the ponytail to suit any occasion – and master the nuances of the look through replication. You’ll leave with a broader understanding of blow-dry fundamentals, and a significant technical styling education.
WEDNESDAY September 25
*Must have 2 years cutting experience
Bb.Man (Barbering Techniques)
In this men’s class, you’ll work predominantly with clippers, while using the razor and scissors to finish your look. Through combining classic and current techniques, this class will revolutionize your approach to men’s cutting and grooming. You’ll incorporate traditional barbering techniques into current trends; learn how to create shape and texture – plus, practice a variety of techniques, including “controlled weight removal.”
THURSDAY September 26
*Pre-requisite – Styling I, Bb.Style: The Blowdry, Perfected and/or all NEs who attended Network Educator Program I after February 2004 and before July 2018.
Bb.Backstage (Editorial Styling)
Endless factors go into executing a look backstage, so practicality is key. We’ll test your technical skills and ability to work under pressure. You’ll learn what it’s like to be a session stylist backstage, and hone your fundamental styling techniques. Also, you’ll be exposed to backstage influences, and learn how to translate them to salon clients.
